Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Lane Switch website and macOS app handle information while providing window switching, purchasing, license activation, downloads, updates, and support. Lane Switch does not require a Lane Switch account. Purchases are handled independently by Dodo Payments as Merchant of Record and are also governed by the Dodo Payments Privacy Policy.

1. Window Data Stays on Your Mac

Lane Switch uses macOS Accessibility permission to read window titles and state so it can index, search, rank, and switch windows on your device. Window titles, window lists, search terms, recent-use history, and sidebar data are processed locally on your Mac and are not sent to Lane Switch, Dodo Payments, or advertising services. You can revoke Accessibility permission at any time in macOS System Settings.

2. Website, Downloads, and Updates

The website is static and does not use third-party analytics scripts or advertising trackers, and it does not require sign-in. Hosting and network providers for the website, downloads, and Sparkle updates may process request information needed to deliver content, protect the service, and diagnose failures, such as IP address, request time, request URL, User-Agent, and response status. Those requests do not contain your window titles, search index, or window-switching history.

3. Purchases Through Dodo Payments

When you enter Dodo Payments Checkout, Dodo Payments directly collects and processes information needed to complete the transaction, including name, email, billing address, tax information, payment information, device information, and transaction risk signals. Dodo Payments is the legal seller and handles payment processing, applicable indirect taxes, invoices, refunds, and disputes. Lane Switch does not receive or store complete card, bank account, or other payment credentials.

Dodo Payments may provide us with purchase email, order or payment identifiers, product, amount, currency, taxes, license status, and refund status so we can deliver licenses, provide support, reconcile purchases, and handle refunds. Dodo Payments determines retention of its transaction data under its privacy policy and legal obligations.

4. License Activation and Validation

When you activate, validate, or deactivate a license in the app, it sends the license key, an anonymous label generated for that installation, and the activation instance identifier to Dodo Payments' license service. Dodo Payments uses this information to confirm the product, license status, and the two-Mac activation limit. The anonymous label does not use your Mac name, username, serial number, or window content.

The app stores the license key and necessary activation record in macOS Keychain. The license API may return customer fields associated with the purchase in its activation response; the app does not write those fields to logs, analytics, or its local license record. After successful activation or validation, the app may continue to work for a limited offline lease before validating online again.

5. Checkout Return Page

When Dodo Payments redirects to the website's success page, it may place the license key, email, payment identifier, and status in URL parameters. The page uses a valid license key only in memory for the current view and removes those parameters from the browser address bar as soon as practical. It does not write the key to localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies, analytics, error reporting, or support links. Because the initial page request must first reach the hosting service, the hosting provider may still encounter the original complete URL while processing that request.

6. Support Communications

If you contact support, we process your email address, message, and diagnostic information you choose to provide so we can respond, reconcile a purchase, or resolve a license issue. Do not send a complete license key, payment-card number, banking credentials, or unrelated window content by ordinary email. Support records are retained only as long as needed to handle the request, keep necessary business records, and meet legal obligations.

7. Sharing and International Processing

We disclose information to service providers only when needed to provide the website, downloads, updates, payments, licenses, and support, or when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service. Dodo Payments and infrastructure providers may process information outside your country or region under their own policies and applicable legal safeguards. We do not sell your personal information or use window data for advertising.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You can choose not to purchase, revoke macOS Accessibility permission, deactivate a license on an old Mac, or stop using the Service. For transaction data controlled directly by Dodo Payments, contact Dodo Payments under its privacy policy. For support or business records we hold, you may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion. We will respond under applicable law and any required transaction, tax, security, and dispute-record obligations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the product, service providers, or legal requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with a new update date. Where reasonably practical, material changes will also be explained through the website or another appropriate channel.
